PHILADELPHIA– Mayor Kenney’s commitment to making the data of city government open and easily accessible to all citizens reached a new milestone today with the release of the salaries of all city employees.

“Every day, I see an example of a City worker exceeding the high bar of accountability this administration has set,” the mayor said. “Today, we’re taking that accountability a step further by releasing this data set.”

The release of the salary data is the result of efforts of the City’s Finance Department and Office of Innovation and Technology.  The initial data is current as of March 22, 2016, and will be updated every three months.  The database features names, titles, departments, annual salary and gross overtime year-to-date for all 30,000 city workers, including elected officials.

The Open Data site also includes an interactive visualization tool that allows users to easily browse, filter and drill down into the data within their web browser.  For example, they can sort salary data by department or by range.

The data can be can be accessed at www.opendataphilly.org.

The Open Data site is maintained by the City’s Department of Information Technology. “This release joins a growing list of more than 200 open data sets that help inform citizens and strengthen their trust in government,” said Chief Information Officer Charles J. Brennan.
