Philadelphia – Philadelphia Parks & Recreation Commissioner Kathryn Ott Lovell, City Councilman Brian O’Neill, Pennsylvania Senator John Sabatina and Pennsylvania Representative Martina White dedicated recent updates to Lackman Playground in Northeast Philadelphia with a ribbon-cutting ceremony this afternoon.

“Every neighborhood in Philadelphia deserves a park and recreation center like Lackman,” said Commissioner Ott Lovell.  “It’s amazing what a few improvements can do to uplift a whole neighborhood, and I’m excited for that to continue throughout The City, thanks to Mayor Kenney’s Rebuild Plan.”

The updates to Lackman Playground include a new sprayground, and an asphalt trike track to provide a fun and safe place for young children to ride.  Lackman also received entrance and parking lot improvements with new fence work and guardrail, as well as new windows and air conditioners in the office and dance room.

“I am happy to announce the completion of the recent renovations to Lackman Playground,” said Councilman O’Neill.  “These improvements will greatly enhance the quality of life for children and families in the community.”

Renovations to Lackman were made possible through a collaboration between Councilman O’Neill’s office, the Department of Public Property and Philadelphia Parks and Recreation’s Special Team.  The Special Team provided assistance with the installation of the new fence and sprayground.
