The OIG is selected to publish a best practices guide for Columbia Law School’s Center for the Advancement of Public Integrity

PHILADELPHIA – The City of Philadelphia Office of the Inspector General today released a best practices   guide designed to help anti-corruption agencies maximize the impact of their annual report.  The guide was published by the Center for the Advancement of Public Integrity (CAPI) at Columbia Law School as an installment of an ongoing series.

“How to Craft a Powerful Annual Report: Using an annual report to earn public trust, advance key goals, and tell your agency’s story,” explores the OIG’s report-writing process step-by-step, following six key guidelines accompanied by examples from the OIG’s previous annual reports.

This piece is the second issue of CAPI’s Integrity in Brief Series, which features practice-oriented guides authored by anti-corruption scholars, practitioners, and policymakers.  The series is an effort to make relevant research accessible to the wider public integrity community.

The OIG was identified as the leading authority in annual report writing among all of CAPI’s affiliated organizations.

The Integrity in Brief series is sponsored by the Laura and John Arnold Foundation.  CAPI plans to publish 10 installments each year.  Intended for both professional and general audience, future topics include public ethics training, new developments in federal anti-corruption law, and best practices from cities overseas.
